This is the old road from Gunnison to Salida. It's a good steady climb. Sound familiar? It's back up to the Continental Divide for you!
When you reach the top, you'll be close to the top of the Monarch Ski and Snowboard Area. But we have no skiing in mind today, you'll turn south, onto the Continental Divide Trail.
The end of this section is Old Monarch Pass. The 3rd Vapor Trail Aid Station will be at (new) Monarch Pass. You'll have 10 minutes of fun singletrack between the top of the climb back to the divide and your the station.
